Bingo Celebs

Funny, after I read about the White Stripes interest in bingo I tried to search names of other celebrities who enjoy a game of online bingo and I came up with a nice list of many actors, athlets, musicians and so on who are avid fans of bingo and online bingo games.

Among them are both American and British celebrities like: Russel Crowe, Catherine-Zeta Jones, Shane Richie, Jade Jagger, Denise Van Outen, Michael Douglas, Sara Cox, Robbie Williams and even the ex-president of the United States, Mr. Bill Clinton himself claimed that he is into bingo games here and there.

Nice respectful list, if you ask me. Makes me feel honored to be an online bingo player among others.

White Stripes are into Bingo

Heh, I just read that the rock group, the White Striped ended their Canadian tour with a show in Newfoundland and later, their singer, Jack White, ended the evening at the local bingo parlor.
What happened to the days where rock groups ended their shows with wilder things? 75 ball bingo and rock'n'roll is the best combination I guess...

National Bingo Night is back!

Nice. I just read that ABC will air some new episodes of National Bingo Night, a pretty cool TV series. As far as I know there were at least 6 episodes that were aired during 2007, but now ABC announced they want to shoot some more episodes.
National Bingo Night is hosted by Ed Sanders, the guy from Extreme Makeover (Home Edition).

The concept behind NBN is interesting because it allows home viewers to play the game while watching, but somehow I understood that the ratings weren't that good, so ABC decided to end the show after 6 episodes.

Usually, I'm not a big fan of reality TV, but NBN is an interesting format and a good idea and I will sure watch the new episoded. Good luck for them.

Guess who won the 4th of July online bingo tournament?
Yes, you guessed it right, it was me.

I've read in couple of places that Online Bingo becomes a huge hit in many places, even in Latin America. I never considered Mexicao to be a bingo loving nation, but I guess this is the case.
I do remember that in my last visit in Spain I saw quite a few bingo parlors so I guess that somehow bingo is indeed a universal thing.

Bingo Smoking Ban

It seems as if anyone is talking nowadays about the smoking ban. Online bingo sites are probably happy with it, since players who are deprived from their right to smoke while playing, will probably search some other ways to play bingo without to visit the non-smoking bingo rooms.

Personally, I don't smoke, I never liked to smoke and I never thought that it gives me any new pleasure that playing bingo can't do without. But, my friends usually smoke when we play poker or bingo together, and I never really cared about it. It was just something that happened, and it didn't changed anything for me during the game.

Yet I must add that one of the coolest things in online bingo rooms is that fact that I can sit around and play my favorite online bingo games without to be annoyed by the smoke. It is sure healthier and I can definitely understand those players that will choose to quit their old bingo habits and start playing at online bingo sites. It might be hard for the land-based bingo industry, but this is how things go, I guess.

The history of online bingo

I was thinking, that I never really took time to learn about bingo history.
I'm a well-educated man, if I may say so, and I'm usually interested in the origins of things like that, but somehow I always avoided reading about bingo in Wikipedia or other information websites.

I was chatting with a friend on one of the online bingo chat rooms the other day, and he asked me if I knew that bingo was played with beans at first, I was surprising, but I recall that I heard something about it somewhere in the past. I checked it on Wikipedia and it was correct. Online bingo DID start as a game of beans called "Beano".

I think I'll take some time now to read and learn more about the game, I just feel that its the right thing to do for someone like me who is definitely into online bingo games.

There are tons of online bingo sites, right? just type those words in any search engine and see for yourself. there are millions of sites that offer you "the best online bingo experience" and so on.

It is not an easy task to choose which is the best site for you. actually, there are millions of sites that offer you reviews of the other million online bingo sites. It is quite confusing to the bingo players who are new to the virtual variation of this game.

what I'm planning to do here is to write my own short reviews about the sites that I personally like and those that I spend my money at :)

Something new that I found about Bingo players

I was thinking about writing some posts about my own favorite online bingo websites but then again I decided not to turn this bingo blog into promotional blog. As for now I will keep it clean and simple and only write about my bingo adventures and about my suggestions to online bingo players. If I'll run into a unique bingo site that I'll feel you, the readers, should hear about, I'll let you all know and post something about it and about its features.

I wanted to add something to what I wrote before about the people who you probably find on an online bingo rooms. Since I wrote my last post on the subject I found out that I encounter more and more younger people on the sites I play in. I don't think that it's because of my own blog (he he) but some sort of a reaction to the new gaming laws in the U.S and the fact that online bingo sites became more and more interesting while offering players more cool features and promotions.

I'm not asking each and every person that I play with about his/her age, but I frequently use the bingo chats and I found out that I'm definitely not the youngest one on the sites. It is pretty cool to know that and I believe that it is something that will grow stronger during time. Online bingo sites will attract more and more varied types of players and it will only contribute to the game and the atmosphere.

why I REALLY started this online bingo blog

Ok ok, the truth is that I started this online bingo blog in order to imporve the way America's men and women are looking at bingo and online bingo, two versions of my favorite pastime.

I was playing quite a lot online bingo games lately, I think that I found a cool bingo room that gives me more chances to win and more outstanding features.
I don't want to turn this online bingo blog to promotional machine so I won't reveal all the details about this bingo site that I was talking about, but I will share with you some stories and anecdotes about my online bingo adventures later on.

Alone in the bingo room

When I first fell in love with bingo, I wasn't sure if my friends would like to participate in this new craze. As I wrote before, they all were way too much into poker games and bingo wasn't really something that they could relate to, but what do you know, reality proved us all wrong!

After I came clean about my fascination with bingo, most of my poker friends really got into it too. It was hillarious to see those tough American guys who usually sit around the poker table, drinking beers, smoking cigs and talking about women change their attitude and fall in love with bingo. I guess that this is the real power of bingo, the ability to capture anyone and to serve as a social game that fits even the toughest hard-workin' men. Bingo is for everyone.

At first, I was afraid that I'll end up alone in the bingo room, but then again, 2 years after I discovered my love to bingo and online bingo I sit here with my friends, playing bingo together, having fun, just like real game friends should.
This is the good life!

Against the new bingo rules

I just found out this article about the new rules that try to govern land-based bingo halls.
To tell you the truth, I tried going to one of those bingo halls and I found out that I just don't relate to the whole atmosphere that went there.

Is it an age thing? I'm not sure, because now that I play in online bingo sites, I play with many people, female and male, who are much older than myself, as long with younger players, and still, the atmosphere is great, everyone enjoys and we chat quite a lot. I even made some sort of new friendships with the other online bingo players.

I will write more about those land-based bingo rooms experiences later on, although it's the fun in the online bingo sites that has bigger sex appeal, if you ask me.

2 old men are engaged in a game of bingo in the church. One of them keeps looking over the other's shoulder saying: "you've got that number, mark it off" After doing this for quite some time The bingo player gets annoyed and says: "why don't you do your own card?" Whereupon the annoying bingo player answers: "I can't it's full!"


Ok. I know. It is not that funny. But, hey, online bingo is still great fun!

Online Bingo Demographics

I still don't know if anyone reads this bingo blog. I just started it and I still haven't published it to the crowd, so I guess that only some of my friends are reading it at the moment.

I think that I'll add google analytics code later on. I don't really know how to do it, but my friends told me that it is quite simple.

This brings me to the next thing I wanted to write about: online bingo demographics.
I just read that one of the biggest UK online bingo sites found that the majority of the players in online bingo rooms are aged around 47 and are female.
cool, right?

I don't know what I should do with this bingo data myself, online bingo demographics had really nothing to do with my own pleasure playing the game, but still, when I chat with other players on websites, I often encounter female or male bingo players at those ages.
As far as I'm concerned, online bingo is cooler than poker, and I love this game.

How I managed to convince my friends that bingo is better than poker

After I re-discovered my hidden love for online bingo I decided to let my friends know about it. Now that I think about it, it sounds kinda weird, but my friends and I were totally devoted to poker, everyone liked this game and we really spent long nights playing it together or even at online sites.

One evening while playing we started to think on other variations of Texas Hold'em and suddenly I told the guys "You know, there are other cool card games that we can try sometime, instead of poker". The guys looked at me wondering and I continued and said "Well, there's this game that I really like and often play it online, it called bingo".

Ok, this is the place when some of my friends kinda laughed at me, and some were a bit curious to hear about it.
Bingo? It's not the coolest game in the world, isn't it?
Well, what do I care?

To make a long story short, we continued to play poker, I still play it to this very day, I really like this game, but I did managed to convert some of my friends to playing online bingo with me.
We go online twice a week, sometimes a bit more and we play together at one of our favorite online bingo rooms.
Yea, I know, it is only online bingo, but I love it!

How I re-discovered Bingo

This fascination with bingo that I have is something that started not too long ago. Two years ago I was playing poker with my friends, in one of our weekly poker nights, when I felt really fed up with this game. We used to play Texas Hold'em and we tried to spice it up with all sorts of variations but too me it was a bit too much.

Then I remembered bingo.

Let me first explain what bingo means to me. Basically, you might already know that bingo isn't very popular in the States, but I when I grew up, I lived 3 years in Somerset, in the UK with my parents. There, I discovered the game of bingo, and since then I really liked this game.

So, after we finished playing poker (me getting the worst hands possible) I went home and surfed the net trying to find some cool places to play online bingo at.
I found this pretty low-tech online bingo portal but I decided to give it a try and to download the software.

This whole thing happened 4 years ago, so the software was kinda huge and not very user-friendly. Besides that, I had to check out some other bingo guides in order to bring back the memory of this excellent game. I spent the whole night reading about it and trying to remember some tricks that my dad used to teach me. Since bingo isn't such a complicated game, I felt like I'm ready for the real deal and started to play.

Oh, this was one of the coolest nights ever. Playing online bingo brought so many childhood memories to me. It was just fantastic.

Why I started this bingo blog

I guess that this is my official welcome to you, who ever you might be, the readers of this blog.
I started this bingo blog to discuss my favorite game, to tell you about my wild bingo adventures and to entertain myself while I'm stuck at my lousy office.

Yea, I know, bingo isn't the coolest game of all. You won't see tough gangsta types playing it or smooth rich Las Vegas dwellers spending thousands of dollars on it, but hey, this is MY favorite game, so I'll write about it.
